One of my fav uses of good old packet is having Converse back-channel coms
between involved stations, not to mention show off being able to send lists
of pharmaceuticals in a relatively short amount of time. Of course WinLink
is all the rave, we have email gateways on several

My next programming project is mostly about integrating Asterisk, Phone
Patches, All Star Link, Mycroft, APRS, and other toys.

Wishful thinking... We can probably skip Mbps and go right to Gbps, but
that's probably not much of a backbone. Event could be a weekend race to
build longest chain, regardless of bandwidth, but as teams find new places
to hold the event each year, they can have solar powered nodes plunked down
in permanently legal locations after a couple years.
