[HamGatePA] Am I on Amprnet?

What device/router are you using for your implementation of 44 net? Is that device in your DMZ? It needs to be. DNS is important as well. The IPENCAP file is broadcast every 5 minutes I believe. Your device needs to see that file and store it in the proper location on your device. If you have ever had a chance to look at that file, it’s kind of like what you might consider a DNS file. It’s really a cross reference tool that shows how to get to your 44 net address(s) using whatever public IP address you have from your commercial ISP. In many cases this is done using a dynamic DNS client in case your ISP changes your current IP address. If you are fortunate enough to have a static commercial IP address that is not required. The IPENCAP files just says to others, hey this 44 net IP address is reachable through this commercial IP address. If you don’t have that IPENCAP file in your device, it has nothing to reference on how to get to your IP address. The DNS entries are part of that.

While the file is sent every 5 minutes or so, it’s updated from the portal I believe every 2 hours.

Thank you,

Would the lack of a DNS entry be why I'm not getting rip44 broadcasts?

It does not hurt anything to pre-stage DNS records for what will be
coming online soon, but you still need one for each active item or
else nothing will flow.
