If you eventually determine that you are going to connect to a gateway with
a public facing IP address, you need to make sure that it can handle IPIP
encapped routes (Protocol 4).  Many sysops use a Linux machine with 
tunneling
set up and deal with the AMPR-RIPD statement broadcasts.
