I did not email anyone with a current BGP assignment or those who are special situations that will be handled separately. Thank you to those who have responded over the past two weeks. We need to get this done soon (how does the Ides of March sound) so that the proper routing is in place. The following have not responded yet by requesting a new subnet: KD4IZ WA3MEZ NE3R KC3DMC N3MPS Read your state's Subnet Plan at http://HamGateMDE.n2nov.net What are the steps for requesting a new subnet and getting things set up for routing? - sign into your account at http://portal.ampr.org - go to this page https://portal.ampr.org/networks.php?a=request&id=822 - do not change the Parent Network - choose a netmask of /29, /28, /27, etc based on desired addresses - put in the description box your call and county (eg N2NOV - Richmond Co.) - do not change End User - check Radio and IPIP Tunnel boxes (only choose Direct if you want a BGP) - put in the Notes field a description of your current or planned use - click Send After you receive back my approval and assignment of the new subnet numbers: "I do not have a current gateway entry": - click https://portal.ampr.org/gateways_manage.php?a=addGateway - Put your callsign in Title field - choose either Gateway Hostname for your DDNS-type entry -or- - choose Gateway IP to enter your static public IP address - enter your planned system information under Notes field - click Save button - select Network To Add and choose your new subnet (not someone else's) - click Add Network button - email your desired DNS entries to n2nov at n2nov.net "I already have a current gateway entry": - go to https://portal.ampr.org/gateways_manage.php - click Edit link next to your current gateway - Remove your old subnet - select Network To Add and choose your new subnet (not someone else's) - click Add Network button - email your desired DNS entries to n2nov at n2nov.net -- Charles J. From the latest ARDC newsletter: 44Net assessment under way ?Legitimately stoked!? That?s how Rosy Schechter, KJ7RYV, ARDC Executive Director, described how she feels about the recently started 44Net Assessment. 44Net is a precious resource, and there are many ideas for how to use and organize it going forward. Before engineering a solution, we need data about its current state, which is where the assessment comes into play. ARDC has hired the consulting company, TwoP, to manage the assessment, asking questions like: - How much of the 44Net address space is currently being used and who is using it? - Why aren?t more amateur radio operators using 44Net? What are the pain points or challenges to using these resources? - What would make 44Net more usable in the future? With this information, we can make better decisions on how we can improve 44Net and how to best invest in it, in terms of both staffing and technical operations. Stated otherwise, this work will make us better stewards of 44Net. The majority of this work will happen March through May of 2022, with a full report to be published shortly after. Keep an eye on the blog and 44Net mailing list for opportunities to participate. Please reach out to contact at ardc.net with any questions. Disclosure: TwoP is a consulting firm run by Tim Pozar, who is a member of our TAC. His business partner, Matt, will be running the assessment. -- Charles J.
